Family, friends, fellow officers, and community members gathered Tuesday to honor the life and service of Central Berks Regional Police Officer Kristen Yeager, whose death following an on-duty crash has left a profound impact across Berks County.
The 42-year-old officer, wife, and mother was remembered during a solemn procession and memorial service that celebrated her dedication to public service and the sacrifice she made while serving her community. Her widower and three young children carried her ashes into the ceremony as fellow officers stood at attention and mourners paid their respects.
Police leaders described Yeager as a committed public servant whose courage and compassion defined her career. During the service, Central Berks Regional Police Chief Justin Johnson praised her unwavering commitment to duty, telling attendees that she served with honor, dedication, and courage while giving everything for the people she had sworn to protect.
Officer Yeager had served with the Central Berks Regional Police Department for the past two and a half years. On May 29, while responding to a call in Earl Township, her patrol vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. She was ejected from the vehicle and later died from her injuries at a hospital.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro joined family members, law enforcement officers, and community residents at the memorial service, thanking those gathered for honoring the life of what he described as a true public servant. Speaking directly to Yeager’s children, he reflected on her servant’s heart and the lasting legacy she leaves behind through her family and the countless lives she touched.
