The broadcasting community is mourning the loss of Bryce Adair, a 31-year-old CBS production assistant from Augusta, Georgia, who died on June 6 after suffering critical injuries in a single-vehicle crash while working in central Ohio during coverage of the Memorial Tournament.
According to a crash report released by the Dublin Police Department on June 9, Adair was driving a Toyota Sequoia westbound on Woerner Temple Road near Parkwood Place at approximately 11:30 p.m. on June 3 when, for reasons that remain unknown, his vehicle continued straight through a right-hand curve, crossed the median into the eastbound lanes, left the roadway, and struck both a tree and a utility pole.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene after a 911 caller reported an SUV with severe damage that had crashed into a tree. Firefighters from the Washington Township Fire Department worked to extricate Adair from the heavily damaged vehicle before he was transported to OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital for emergency treatment.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Adair succumbed to his injuries three days later on June 6.
Officials have not determined what caused the crash. Investigators reported that alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been factors, and police have not indicated any suspicion that impairment contributed to the collision. The circumstances that caused the vehicle to leave its lane remain under investigation.
At the time of the crash, Adair was in the area covering the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club as part of the CBS Sports production team. His sudden passing has deeply affected colleagues throughout the network.
During CBS’s June 6 broadcast of the tournament, veteran commentator Jim Nantz delivered an emotional tribute to Adair, describing him as “an incredibly bright, charismatic teammate.” Nantz noted that in his four decades with the network, he had never seen the 250-member production crew enter a broadcast while carrying such profound grief.
Adair joined CBS in 2017 and built a respected career behind the scenes, contributing to major sporting events and earning an Emmy Award as part of the network’s Super Bowl coverage. His professionalism, talent, and positive attitude earned him admiration from coworkers throughout the industry.
In the days following the accident, colleagues and friends established a GoFundMe campaign while Adair remained hospitalized. By June 9, the fundraiser had surpassed $85,000, significantly exceeding its original goal of $25,000 as supporters rallied to assist his family.
Family members have announced that visitation services will be held on June 12 from 10 a.m. until noon at Tabernacle Baptist Church on Laney Walker Boulevard in Augusta, Georgia. A funeral service will follow immediately afterward at the same location.
Bryce Adair is remembered not only for his accomplishments in television production but also for his warmth, dedication, and the lasting impact he made on those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
